David Gonzalez signed in December 2009 after a successful trial.
He has played over 300 professional games in South America and Turkey where he had been plying his trade before moving to Manchester City.
David started his career at his hometown club Independiente Medellin in the Colombian First Division in 2002, moving to Deportivo Cali in Turkey before moving on to Rizespor for two seasons.
In early 2009 David spent a short time in Argentina at Athletico Huracan before becoming a free agent, when he realised his ambition of signing for a Premier League club.
On his travels he has managed to learn several languages including English, which he speaks fluently.
David suffered some bad luck at the end of the 09/10 season, when being injured at the same time as Shay Given paved the way for an emergency loan signing of Marton Fulop.
