Publish piece of newsMancini: We'll make history PIECE OF NEWS
BackRoberto Mancini says his players are ready to make history tonight. Manchester City last won a trophy in 1976 and have not been to a major final since 1981.
And boss Mancini insists his men are bursting to break that hoodoo as they take a 2-1 lead to United in their Carling Cup semi-final.
He said: "The players are excited because they have a chance to change the history of the club, which is the most important thing.
"After many years without a trophy we want to get to the final - and we have a good chance."
City will have 9,000 fans in the Old Trafford derby crowd.
And Alex Ferguson believes the derby date will make sure their is no repeat of the anti-Glazer chants that have marked United's last two home games.
Boss Fergie said: "The team is always the most important thing. We should never lose sight of that. Fans are entitled to voice their disapproval. But we don't want a divisive club."
Meanwhile Mancini called for supporters and players to behave tonight by quoting lyrics from a song by City fans Oasis.
He said: "Don't look back in anger! It's important we play calm. It's only a game, it's an important game but it's only a football match."
