Barcelona right-back Dani Alves has emerged as the latest star player being lined up for a big-money move to Manchester City

The Brazil international is yet to sign a new contract at the club, prompting speculation that he may follow former team-mate Yaya Toure to Eastlands in January in a £30 million move.

Barca are thought to have tabled a £160,000-a-week deal, which is heavily based on bonuses, but City could easily dwarf those wages. They have made Toure the Premier League's highest-paid player, with the Ivorian taking home well over £200,000 a week. (Daily Mail)

With Alves operating virtually as a right winger at times, his arrival could accelerate the departure of Shaun Wright-Phillips, who is a target for Liverpool. However, the Reds are not willing to spend more than £5m on the Englandinternational. (The Sun)

The cracks are beginning to appear in the City dressing room, with defender Kolo Toure admitting there are problems in the camp.

City players Emmanuel Adebayor and Vincent Kompany had an on-pitch bust-up during Saturday's defeat at Wolves, while Yaya Toure and James Milner argued in the tunnel during the previous week's 3-0 defeat to Arsenal, and the defender admitted the players are trying to work through their differences.

He said: "We are a team, and in any team there are problems. The important thing is to try and resolves problems in the dressing room. We need, as players, to take more responsibility." (The Sun)

Just to exacerbate City boss Roberto Mancini's problems, star striker and captain Carlos Tevez may not be fit in time for the Manchester derby on November 10.

Tevez is back in Argentina on a break with what Mancini described as "personal problems", and the forward is also recovering from a thigh problem. Doctors have told Tevez that he should rest up at home to quicken his recovery, rather than board a second 10-hour flight in the space of a few days to return to City's training ground for treatment. Still, at least midfielder Gareth Barry has come out and apologised for him, Joe Hart, Shay Given and Adam Johnson enjoying a night out in Edinburgh with students last week.

Barry said: "I regret that, it was naive of me. It shouldn't have happened. I have apologised to the manager; we were in the wrong."
